ACW Guilty By Association 7 Run Down

SUPERFANS UNITE

Hey guys. First off, sorry this post is going up much later than expected, but it is finally all finished and all my thoughts are placed on this pretty little webpage for your enjoyment. So here's my thought and rundown for ACW's big 6-Year anniversary show "Guilty By Association 7" that happened last week in beautiful Austin, Texas.

JACK JAMESON, RICKY ROMIDA AND MACHIKO DEF. JASON SILVER, JEFF GANT AND KILLAH KASH IN AN ANARCHY TELEVISED MATCH

The team of Silver and Gant lost one of their biggest advantages early, as after dominating Jameson and Romida early in the match, Kash once again left his partners high and dry. This would give the team of Jameson, Romida and Machiko the chance to pick up the win, giving Jack and Ricky a bit of momentum going into their tag team match later on in the evening.

Before going into the main show, ring announcer extraordinaire Barry Savant provided a nice introduction to the event, talking about the progression of Anarchy into what it has become and how all of us spreading the words with our tweets and blogs (Hey, thats me) help this company grow.

A LIL’ CRAZY DEF. RICKY STARKS AND KYLE HAWK

This was a match that in theory could have been a throwaway, but instead it was a highly entertaining contest that was the perfect way to start off the main show. The match was given a good amount of time with all four men getting to showcase something. I feel the fans are starting to take a liking to the team of Hawk and Starks and they proved in this match (and their match last month against The Takeover) that they could hang in the world of Anarchy. Also, I really love the team of JC Bravo and Stan Summers. One’s a former Smurf with the best hair in the business. The other is a midget clown. What brings them together? Alcohol!

THOMAS SHIRE DEF. LIL’ TONY

It’s official. Lil’ Tony is a lil’ over. It may be greatly due to myself, other internet pro-wrestling aficionado Brandon Stroud and the awesome Destiny, but I think we were able to get a lot of people on the Lil’ Tony bandwagon in this one. The Business was hilarious as usual; including Thomas Shire taking a vicious overhand chop from Destiny, but sadly, Shire sneaked out a cheap win with feet on the ropes. And the already inflated ego of Chris Trew grows.

BOLT BRADY DEF. CARSON TO WIN THE U-30 TITLE

Seriously, if you aren’t a Bolt Brady fan yet, then what are you waiting for? Bolt had a lot of momentum going into this match after the amazing encounter he had with ACH in December, and he delivered once again in this one. Props also have to go to Carson for not only wrestling with a leg injury, but during this intense battle suffering a ruptured eardrum after a knee from Brady. As I’ve mentioned before, 2012 has been an amazing year of growth for Bolt Brady, and the perfect way of beginning 2013 was capturing the Young Guns U-30 title, Bolt’s first championship in ACW. Congratulations to Bolt and I cannot wait to see what is to come for these two, young, hungry athletes in 2013.

JT LAMOTTA DEF. JASON SILVER

Silver made his way to the ring accompanied by his Children Of Pain cohorts Sky De Lacrimosa and Killah Kash to issue an open challenge to the locker-room  a challenge that was answered by the returning "Mind Of Wrestling" JT Lamotta. The match saw a variety of styles, from straight brawling on the outside, to much more technical wrestling inside the ring. Silver worked on Lamotta's leg throughout the match, knowing that JT was out of action because of a leg injury. However, after a miss communication that sent Silver flying into his partner Sky, JT was able to get the big win in his return match. JT then talked about how he promised at last years Guilty By Association that 2012 was going to be his last year in pro wrestling. And while he is still planning to retire, he is not doing it until he gets one more match with his arch rival Jimmy Jacobs. So, we'll see if Lamotta vs. Jacobs will happen once again down the line.

IN A DOUBLE JEOPARDY MATCH, JESSICA JAMES DEF. ATHENA AND AMANDA FOX DEF. BARBI HAYDEN, LEADING TO JESSICA JAMES DEF. AMANDA FOX TO WIN THE ACW AMERICAN JOSHI TITLE

Double Jeopardy matches have become tradition in ACW. Basically the concept is that two matches are happening simultaneously, and the winners of those two matches face off to determine the ultimate winner. Someone should probably tell Barbi Hayden that, as she thought that she was competing in an actual game of Jeopardy, complete with notes written on her hand. The match then broke down with a lot of innovative stuff occurring throughout, my favorite being a double pump-handle by Fox onto Jessica, that turned into a hurricanrana driver on Barbi. This was the first match I've had the pleasure of seeing Amanda Fox compete in, and, while people noted their was some ring rust, I cannot wait to see what is to come of her. Athena's elimination was spawned when Davey Vega and Shawn Vexx began brawling on the outside, leading to a distraction that allowed Jessica James to get the pin and the elimination. Amanda Fox then pinned the champion Hayden, leading to the final square-off between James and Fox. While it looked like Amanda had Jessica James beat with a leglock, things took a turn as Rachel Summerlyn, dressed as the devious Harley Quinn, sauntered onto the apron to lure in her former tag team partner Jessica James.

This led to Rachel planting her interpretation of the Poison Kiss on Jessica, which compelled her to fire back on Amanda Fox, finishing her off with Rachel's own Texas Cloverleaf to be crowned the brand new American Joshi champion. Congratulations go to Jessica, who is proof that Rachel Summerlyn is magic.

ATHENA DEF. SHAWN VEXX AND DAVEY VEGA TO WIN THE ANARCHY TELEVISED TITLE

Ok, before I talk about the actual match, this needs to be mentioned. For those that frequent the Texas independent scene, there is a good chance you will see a certain fan by the name of Tommy. Tommy is not only a great fan, but one of the best hecklers, and he’s struck up feuds with some of the top heels in Anarchy, including Shawn Vexx. This includes back in February, when Tommy brought this sign to an ACW event, being shown off by joshi standout Mia Yim.

This show, Vexx had a retort. Thanks to other superfan Brandon Bray for catching this memorable moment on film.

And just to show that there were no hard feelings between the two, I made sure to get this photo after the show.

Since apparently I don't say it enough, Shawn Vexx was MVP for the night for that alone.

But, onto the match, this was a great matchup with a lot of bad blood between these two. Athena would then interject herself into the match, cashing in on her guaranteed title match that she won at the LoneStar Classic, pinning both men to become the new Anarchy Televised champion. I know many people we're very skeptical about this feud, concerning that the original format for this match was that the winner would win both the championship and the arm of Athena, but I loved how it turned out in the end. Even the post-match promo from Davey Vega put a great capper on this feud, as Vega was able to illustrate that Athena is more than just a woman that two men fight over. As Vega stated, "She is better than me. That's why she is my better half". This isn't just a cute line, it says a lot about how ACW has allowed female wrestlers to be put on an equal playing field. I am all for understanding that just like any other job, relationships can happen in a wrestling locker-room  As long as females aren't tied down to being exchangeable arm candy and are able to square off evenly with their male counterparts, relationships can exist in pro wrestling without then hindering progress. And the end result from this match was the case.

THE TAKEOVER BEAT UP DARIN CHILDS

So, Darin Childs came to the ring prepared for his Heavyweight title match with Rachel Summerlyn, only to get interrupted by James Claxton, Carson and Miss Maulie of everyone’s favorite band of bullies, The Takeover. The three jumped Darin and administered a beat down, leading to somewhat of a match between Darin and James Claxton. I totally understand The Takeover being their normal, upset self’s and beating up Darin, but this went on for a good awkward 10 minutes. And also, hey Machiko, that was even more awkward seeing you just standing there watching three people beat the hell out of the guy you’re managing/dating for 10 straight minutes. I know you’re in pumps and skinny jeans but like a kick to the chest, a shove, or something would be much appreciated. Just saying.

RACHEL SUMMERLYN DEF. JAYKUS PLISKEN TO RETAIN THE ANARCHY HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE

After this was done, Jaykus Plisken dragged Rachel, still in Harley Quinn getup, to the ring for an impromptu title match. As much as chauvinistic and sexist Jaykus Plisken is hard to handle, I do love matches like this and the one he had with Jessicka Havok back in December, mainly because it gives a chance for those chauvinistic opinions to be shut down. In the end, that’s exactly what happened as Rachel pulled out the clean victory over Plisken to retain her title, leaving Plisken to tear apart the referee, with this being the result.

BARRETT BROWN AND MAT FITCHETT DEF. THE SUBMISSION SQUAD

Barrett Brown's mystery tag team partner was none other than the returning "Dirty Rook" Mat Fitchett, and the Mohawk lit up at the sound of his music. Not only that, but the new and improved Murphy returned as well to stand by his brothers side. This goes down as one of my top three favorite matches of the night, with Brown and Fitchett working very well together, including using the Mohawk's structure to their advantage at one point. In the end, Fitchett secured the victory with his signature Shooting Star Press, as the Mohawk crowd welcomed his successful return.

MATTHEW PALMER DEF. ACH IN A TRADITIONAL RULES MATCH TO RETAIN THE WORLD HARDCORE TITLE

What other word can I use to describe this match other than "epic"? Those two did this match the only way they knew how, with the most hardcore stipulation ever, a regular wrestling match. That's pretty hardcore. It started with one of the greatest intro's to a match that I have ever seen, with "Run This Town" blaring over the loudspeakers before they charged at one another. I've mentioned ten million times before on this blog to book ACH, and you should still do that. But before doing that, if you are a major company in the US you need to book Matthew Palmer. This guy has just as much charisma and skill and doesn't get enough due and enough opportunity. Please change that people and let the world know about "The Centerfold"

THE BUSINESS DEF. JACK JAMESON AND RICKY ROMIDA TO RETAIN THE ACW TAG TEAM TITLES

And, Chris Trew is back for much more shenanigans. Angel Blue and JoJo Bravo's tag team strategy has a lot to do with them perfroming moves on one another that somehow inadvertenly hurt their opponents, which is amazing. But the duo of Jameson and Romida we're able to mount a comeback, including Jack Jameson smothering Angel Blue with his cup. However, the Business was able to use their brains to their advantage, neutralizing Romida on the outside so Blue could score a low blow on the unprotected Jameson and retain the tag titles. Trew dismissed his representatives to the back so he could give his end of the year business report, but it was interrupted by Scot Summers, who tore Trew in half with a vicious spear. This then led to the match everyone was waiting for.

JERRY LYNN DEF. SCOT SUMMERS

It hasn't really set in until recently that I got to watch one of Jerry Lynn's final matches of his career. Lynn was one that I have followed for a great deal of time, and he has shown that he can put on consistently great matches with just about anyone. He is a true professional in every sense of the word and it was a true pleasure to see his final year in Anarchy. This match with Scot Summers was no exception. Both men let it all out in this match, including Jerry Lynn taking a huge back body drop onto a propped up ladder and Jerry taking out Summers with a sick sunset flip power bomb through a table on the outside. In the end, Summers submitted to a cross-face as the crowd gave these two men a standing ovation for a hard fought battle. But sadly, it didn't end that sweetly. The Submission Squad of Gelistico, Jay and Fox came in to attack the two, including handcuffing them to the ring ropes. The locker room cleared out to try to help their comrades, but they were taken out, until Gelistico put out a deal to Heavyweight champion Rachel Summerlyn. If she would give him an immediate title shot, he would "spare the life" of the beloved Jerry Lynn, and because of the friendship and the mentor-student relationship they have developed, Rachel immediately accepted.

EVAN GELISTICO DEF. RACHEL SUMMERLYN TO WIN THE ANARCHY HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE

This match was over as soon as it started with Gelistico finishing Summerlyn off with two tombstone pile-drivers  capturing the title to the dismay of the crowd. Jerry Lynn may be gone, but The Submission Squad still have a lot in store for them as it comes to Scot Summers. After the chaos dissipated, Scot Summers was able to say his emotional goodbyes to the man he looked up to as a mentor and father figure, and he wasn't the only one shedding a few tears. Jerry then thanked everyone for following him on this wild journey and that even though he was never billed by companies as the biggest star, he felt on top of the world. Jerry, on behalf of all of the ACW fans, we thank you for all of the time, money and sacrifices you have put in to entertaining us and all of the times you put your body at risk just to give us a show. The big groups may not mention you, but all of the people in the Mohawk tonight and everyone that has followed your amazing career will never forget you.

Not to take away from the emotional final match of Jerry Lynn, but news has reached most places that Guilty By Association also saw the final ACW match of Rachel Summerlyn. Before I came to Anarchy, my idea of what a female could do in a professional wrestling ring was very skewed. I didn't think much of what they could do because of what I was exposed to. But thanks to Rachel's extraordinary hard work in both her career and the way she has developed ACW, I now take female wrestling seriously. Her memorable encounters have opened my eyes to a world where gender means nothing in the squared circle, and I feel that Rachel's work in ACW has been a great influence for other companies to follow that same trend. Not only that, but someone who is one of the most technical, hard-hitting athletes, male or female that I have seen, also always has a smile on her face and never once has an ego. Rachel, thank you for all the devotion you have put into revolutionizing the role of a female in a wrestling ring and opening peoples eyes just like you opened mine.

And finally, one more person who has sadly made their departure from Anarchy Championship Wresting is none other than the "Voice Of Anarchy", Biss. No man has called more matches in ACW than Biss and he has always done a phenomenal job of depicting the story that the competitors tell in the ring, no matter if you are a first time watcher or if you've watched since the beginning. Just like all of the employes at Anarchy, Biss has been amazingly kind to me and has given so much great advice and appreciative words for the little things that I do, like this blog. Biss is a great asset to have in any locker-room, and any company would be lucky to use that great mind to their advantage.

Okay, let's forget all of this sad stuff. Here's JoJo Bravo in a skunk hat to brighten your mood.
